About Us

This company was originally founded in the fall of 2022 by Jen Uden after working a summer job as a trail guide at a dude ranch in Jordan, MN. After noticing how hard the horses worked during the summer months, she wanted to incorporate some sort of snack to be given to them throughout the day as a show of gratitude and appreciation. When she looked for treats at the local store, she quickly realized that what was available at a reasonable price would be no different than giving an athlete potato chips before a game. With no intentions beyond just trying to pack as much nutrition into as small of a package as she could, she hit the kitchen and scoured the internet for different recipes as well as ingredients that would offer nutritional diversity as well as palate appeal. There were many different versions of the unique flavors, but one thing remained the same: the exception that the animals took to them. They readily chose these treats over anything else and, at the urging of friends and family members, Sleeping Giant Natural was born.

It was during this time that the flavors began to become permanent and other animals began to eat them. Back to the kitchen she went to develop and refine new products for dogs, cats and everything in between, being sure that each ingredient was safe for their specific needs.

It would take another 14 months before things would truly take off thanks to the addition of business partner and friend Huong Le, who’s ethics, interests and morals aligned with what SGN is about. Huong’s experience, expertise and drive are completely invaluable to the mission of Sleeping Giant and has truly made this ‘Pet Project’ into a thriving business.
